Apologies for the long wait--things have been so hectic lately. D:

Here is Evelyn! Turns out the reason I couldn't get her running is because I had somehow seated my processor wrong... despite having followed directions very closely. But, $75 and a Windows re-installation later, here is my beast, now up and running after 8 months of building!

DIYPC Solo-T1-R chassis
Asus DVD±R optical drive
Asus Z170-K LGA1151 motherboard
Intel Core i5-6500 Skylake CPU
EVGA GeForce 1050 2GB Superclocked GPU
Rosewill 120mm chassis fans
Logitech speaker system
RCA 21" flat-screen monitor
Razer Black Widow Chroma mechanical keyboard
Wacom Intuos graphics tablet
Crappy Lenovo USB mouse (until I can afford something better)

Very speedy--start-up takes only a minute, no lag while multi-tasking, games perform smoothly. Working on art/photo editing in Photoshop is a breeze!

Thanks to everyone who helped and gave me good advice over the duration of the build! :D

It. Looks. Awesome! 8D Congratulations! :D Glad that everything worked out in the end.

As for mouses (mice? :hmm:) I only have one advice: never trust a Trust. I've had so many Trust because they're always the cheapest and they always suck. Now I've been using a Logitech Performance MX for a couple of years and I'm just hoping it never dies, because I will never find another one as good as this. But it is quite expensive, I'm afraid. (I just checked: $181 on Newegg. 8-O That's insane! Mine was expensive, but not that expensive. Amazon has it for $50, though: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireles ... e+mouse+mx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That's a good price.)

Note: it's not a gaming mouse, so if you want that, MyHandsAreHidden's advice is more relevant.

When things aren't so batsh!t insane in my life. I've been going through a lot lately--been battling depression and some tragic things have happened recently. NOT doing well. I was going to come back from my hiatus on the 7th to celebrate one year on the forum, but it's going to be a little later than I'd hoped for.

I know mice are 99% personal preference, but I've had good luck with Steelseries, if you're looking for a gaming mouse.
Will have to look at 'em. Thanks for the suggestion! :D

Seconding the Steelseries recommendation. My weapon of choice is a Kana V2 and I'm extremely happy with it!

LONG overdue shot of myself with my machine. Gloved, of course... with a pair of brand-spankin'-new leather gloves from my Love for Christmas. :luv: 50cm, as they go up over my elbows. Hopefully more to come soon... with higher quality. I cannot snap photos of myself with my Canon for the life of me. D:
