Usernames.

A post that I wrote welcoming a new member got me thinking, where do people get their usernames and do they have any meaning that isn't obvious. I'd like to take Jake and GlovedGamer as an example. Jake is a name, may not be your real name but it's origin is pretty obvious, as is GlovedGamer, glove fetishist that is a gamer, simples! Some people I've noticed have usernames that aren't as clear cut though. For instance, my username was actually gotten back when I started playing Diablo 2, you can't choose gender so some classes are set as male and some are set as female. I like to give characters names that fit and that sound right so when making my Sorceress I was thinking of a few names and came up with Cordea. It's a play on the Latin word Corde, meaning heart, something which I felt fit the role that the character would play. Other names I've used are things like Áindle which means Champion in my native tongue. Others would be Arangarei (a play on the word Aran'gar) and Tedronai, as well as a few others.

So, anyone care to share the story behind any interesting usernames that you currently use or may have used in the past?

Interesting topic! I often wonder that too.

Mine translates to "bit of a mess" (just "a mess" would be Rommel, which actually translates to trash more accurately) and originates from when I first started out on the internet. I needed an alternate email address to divert spam. It was the account that could be a bit of a mess, so I called it that. Pretty soon, I started to look for porn as well, and whenever I had to fill in my email, I used that one. Porn sites have a pretty high spam risk, after all - and for obvious reasons I didn't want to use my regular email anyway. I don't really use the email address anymore, but the name stuck.

I chose the name ghostrider because one of my favorite things to do is to ride my motorcycle (the comic book/film didnt have too much significance in this choice) and because nobody in my life really knows of my fetish and that the internet kind of allows you to be anonymous so the term ghost seems kind of fitting

My username it's just the province where I live (Catania, in Sicily) plus the word "Guanti", gloves in italian
