Help keep the forum alive!

Post by Rommeltje »

Good day gloving friends! :D
(Head's up: not all of the pictures linked to in this message are Safe For Work. ;))

I'm going to sound like Jimmy Wales saying this, but we need your help! Or more accurately: we need your money. :p

This forum doesn't cost much on a yearly basis, but it still needs to be paid for. The last time I did a fund raiser was four years ago, to get things started, and the amount we raised back then has now finally run out. Time for a new donation run! :whoop: If you are enjoying this forum, and want to help keep it great (or make it even better), I hope you'll consider giving us a little financial aid.

Rewards for donating
Every penny helps, and we will be eternally grateful for each donation. But there will also be rewards for the slightly bigger donations (kinda like Kickstarter ^_^). These being:
  • - For donations over €5 euro (£4, $6), you get the title "WWGFA donor", to show everyone how awesome you are. :8up:
    - For each additional euro (over 5) you get a rep point. Perhaps not very useful in and of itself, but hey, who doesn't like upvotes? :D
    - Instant and permanent access to the premium area (for those who don't have it yet, obviously), for donations over €15 (£12, $19).*
    - Unfortunately, there is no similar reward for premium members donating such an amount, simply because I can't think of one. :-) But if you have a suggestion, name it, and I'll see what I can do.
If you want to collect these rewards, send me a PM after you've donated, stating the amount you pledged and the email you used to donate the money so that I can verify it.

How to donate
I an only accept donations through PayPal, I'm afraid. (Or if anyone knows of another way, do tell me.) Fortunately, it doesn't take a lot of effort to set up an account (make sure your adblocker is turned off on that page or the buttons won't work), and once you've got one, just click on any of the below buttons to proceed to the next step (if you want any other currency, let me know, and I'll add it). There is a way to donate anonymously too. The instruction is a bit long (though simple), so I'll put it in a reply to avoid bulking up this post.

EUR:
GBP:
USD:
*Update: You can now also donate bitcoins! :whoop:

Thanks very much in advance!

*We reserve the right to withhold access to the premium area if members do not adhere to the rules of the forum or present a thread to the safe environment of the premium area. In such an event, the donation will be returned.

Donating anonimously
If you want to give money, but you don't want me to see your real name and/or address (although I'm very trustworthy, if I do say so myself :) your name is completely safe with me, and I'll forget it right away, but still), here's how you can do that. I've tested it myself, so I know it works:
  • Step 1
Set up a new Paypal business account (the free, standard one, obviously).

    Step 2
Fill out the account form with a fake business name and address. This is the name that will appear on my Paypal account when you make a donation. Use a real e-mail address, but use your throwaway/spam/porn/secret one.

    Step 3
Give your real name and info in the ownership section, otherwise your account cannot be verified. (e-mail can be the same as in the previous step). This name will not be visible when you make payments.

    Step 4
Verify with your bank account (probably works with credit card as well, but I only tried it with my bank account, so I can't guarantee that). The verification process takes a few days.

    Step 5
Once verified, you can click on any of the buttons in my previous post to start donating. On my account, it will say that I received money from [fake business name] with your email address, and nothing else.

    Optional steps

    Step 6
Instead of clicking the donate buttons, you can also log in to your paypal account, go to the tab "transfer money" (or something like that, I only know it in Dutch, but it's the second tab. You should be on the "pay online" page). In the "To:" box, type wwgfa@hotmail.com, there should be a little pop up (or pop down, actually) saying that this is a verified e-mail address. In the next box, fill in how much money you want to donate, and below that specify what kind of payment you want to make (I made it "private" and "miscellaneous" (or "other", or whatever it says in English)).

    Step 7
Click Next, and finish the payment. Just like in step 5, I will only see your alias, and not your real name.
To make it even more clear, this is what I will see. (The page is in Dutch, and I blanked out a few things for security reasons. "Bedrijfsnaam" means "Business name", "E-mail koper" is "E-mail buyer", i.e., the donator, and "Zakelijk" is "Business". Oh, and I took the screenshot when I set up the first fund raiser, which is why it says 2010. :))

Unfortunately, when you use your bank account, it'll take five days before the money is actually transferred, but I will get a notification of it already. If you use your credit card, it will be there instantly.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks!

I don't have much knowledge of bitcoins, so at the moment, that's not an option. But I'll look into it.

Hm, maybe that's because I used the same buttons as four years ago. I've made new ones now, can you try it again?
