Would you mind if the reputation point system disappeared due to a semi-important upgrade?

Yes, I would mind. Please don't upgrade if it breaks the reputation point system!

It would be a shame, but if we must upgrade, I can live without the rep points.

Poll: would you mind if reputation points disappeared

Post by Rommeltje »

The forum software is long overdue for an ugrade. I've been putting it off because it will break some of the modifications we've done over the years, including the reputation point system. However, it's getting to the point where it might be better to do the upgrade even at that cost. It's still not completely necessary, though.

Before I decide on anything, I would like everyone's input on how (un)important the rep points are to you. So please vote, and if you have any other input, go ahead and say it.

Thanks!

P.s.: Keep in mind that the outdated software does not have anything to do with down times. In fact, regular members will probably not see many differences at all. The biggest difference will be the lack of rep points.

Also, remember the theory behind the system. It's actually quite an important part of the forum, in my opinion.

An upgraded forum software is way more valuable in the long term than the reputation point system. Not even the fanciest feature out there beats an up-to-date, safe AND secure software. So please, do us all a favor and run the upgrade process.

So awesome we’re back!!!

Am slightly biased, because well, I don’t have many rep points (and I always think my posts are so useful... :whoop: ) but I think a move to more updated software would be awesome for the site and it’s future.

Just to say, thnsks for all you do Rom, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone and I am so happy the site is back up and running again!

Such a relief to see the site back online! I was a little worried for a bit there. This forum means so much to me.

I sorta like the reputation system, but if we must do away with it, I completely understand. I'm with everyone else--I am for what's best for the forum. :D

Rommeltje I trust in you und your decision in this point. If we need an update, then do it.
I think the idea of the reputation points is very good, but if I look in my own rep points, most of the are from the admins and not from normal users.

I have to practise what one preaches and admit that I rarely award points.

I already had a feeling this was the case: it's a grading system for admins mostly.

Is there a reason you rarely award? Forget it? Too bothersome w/ multiple clicks?

Most times I forget the reputation point. You have opened the message and followed the link, at that moment you forget the message and the clicks for reputation.
And yes, I would prefer a one-click System without changing sites, like Facebook or Pornhub
