I've just posted a long reply in one thread, in which I responded specifically to posts by three of the other users. I used '@' followed by their usernames to try to tag them - a bit like:
@UserOne lorem ipsum blah blah blah
@UserTwo Lauren Ipsum, private detective, and her long-gloves femme fatale girlfriends...
and so on!
I'm not sure if that is the correct way to tag someone so that they'll be notified that they've been mentioned. Actually, I'm not even sure there is such a way - I did search the FAQ but couldn't find anything - so I thought I'd better ask here.
Thanks,
Melody.
Is there a way to "tag" the people you're replying to in a thread?

They should get a notification if you quote them, or if you like their post. That's the best way to do it.
There's still a chance they won't get notified, as they can turn off notifications for those particular events (in your user control panel, here), but I think most people will have left them on.
At least, that's what's supposed to happen. I'll quote you so you can see if (and how) it works.

Ooh thanks - I just saw the extra notification in my inbox.
If I go back and edit an existing post to include quotes, will they be notified in the same way as if I'd put the quotes in from the start?

I'm not sure, actually. Let's try.

Yup - worked perfectly, including the "You are receiving this notification because "Rommeltje" quoted you in the
topic" email. Cheers!
