script/popup/ad blocking: uBlockOrigin

Post by SexySurgical »

Our resident reporter apparently had a pop-up w/ malware... who else doesn't have a script/adblocker in 2023 like uBlockOrigin?

Plz install:

Did you install any of the above? If it blocks all stuff that's not form the site itself you should be fine...?

This one blocks all scripting that's not from the site itself, so should cover most.

Privacy Badger addon is also recommended.
If you're tech savvy - get yourself a Raspberry Pi or any similar single board computer and install Adguard Home on it. I have been using a custom DNS for years, first with PiHole and now Adguard Home and it works wonders. You can install blocklists and block whole domains like the typical scam ones - .pro .mobi .tk and so on.

Is Malwarebytes user reported? I remember back in the day it was the only one giving issues.
(Always imagining some harpey Karen reporting every pr0n site they can think of.)

However though ads/popups are the means to give you malignant stuff so better block m off beforehand w/ stuff like this thread started with.

Thnx for your concern but as previously instructed stop clogging up the report notifications. People in 2024 are smart enough to install browser extension like uBlockOrigin (linked earlier).
