Marigold Emperor Gloves (Industrial Rubber)

Post by Rommeltje »

Yes!! The day has finally arrived! :yay: I finally managed to get some Marigold Emperor gloves! I have wanted these for years, and let me tell you: they were definitely worth the wait. My faith in Marigold has been restored, because these are, without a doubt, the best gloves ever! :D

Here's my short review:
Image Image Image Image
Marigold Emperor ME105, bought from Park Royal Timbers on eBay (offering international shipping - at least within Europe, not sure about the rest of the world).

Personal appreciation index (1-10):
10! :yay:

Characteristics:
  • Colour: Black, with writing in white on the back of the left cuff
    Material: Chlorinated natural rubber latex
Length: 17" (43cm), almost exactly up to my elbow
    Size: M (8.5) - a perfect fit.
    Thickness: 3mm
    Cuffs: Beaded/rolled
Grip Pattern: None whatsoever - they're completely and utterly smooth. :)'
    Lining: Unlined
    Price: £12,49 (€15,53) + £4,95 (€6,15) shipping costs (UK to Netherlands)
The only way these gloves could be better (and if I ever find such gloves, I'll have to rate them a 10+ :-)), is if they were yellow. That's just a minor, minor thing though: I may prefer yellow, but I still absolutely love black too. :8up: Everything about these gloves is perfect: the length, the thickness, the lack of a gripping pattern, the perfect fit at the hand, and the way the cuffs taper out, making them wiggle around your arm when you're 'using' them. They're my new favorites by far! Go Marigold! :yay:

Now for the encyclopedic part:

The Marigold Emperor gloves come in ten different varieties. There's the lightweight line, which has a thickness of 1.6mm, the mediumweight (2.4mm), and the heavyweight (3mm). Each line has three different lenghts: 10.5" (27cm), 17" (43cm), and 24" (61cm). The heavyweight comes in one more length: the 26" (66cm). The different types of gloves are designated by a number. ME100 is the lightweight 10.5" glove, ME101 is the mediumweight 10.5", and so on up til the ME108, which is the heavyweight 24". The 26" heavyweight is ME111.

Or, in a table:
  • ...................Length:.....10.5" (27cm).....17" (43cm).....24" (61cm).....26" (66cm)
    Thickness:

    Lightweight......................ME100.............ME103.............ME106
    (1.6mm)

    Mediumweight...................ME101.............ME104.............ME107
    (2.4mm)

    Heavyweight.....................ME102.............ME105.............ME108.............ME111
    (3mm)
They're available in four sizes: S (7.5), M (8.5), L (9.5), and XL (10.5). That's actually a bit different from household gloves, where a size L is usually equivalent to 8.5, i.e., if you're normally a size M, you'll now be an S.

Love these gloves.... and they even ship to Australia too!

Are you using them for pleasure only Romm, or for other purposes like cleaning etc?

Damn they look good, shit I may have to find some! Thanks Romm, now I'm all over them :)

Good to know they come in different variety as far as thickness, I'm not a big fan of thick gloves so I may try the medium weight, or even the light weight. Is the medium weight somewhat similar to the typical household gloves thickness? Or say comparing to the Marigold Kitchen Gloves for example.

I'm curious what they're being used for in the industry, since they're classified as industry gloves :)

I can't imagine a supermarket stocking these, somehow. Otherwise, I only look online for new acquisitions!

Shouldn't hardware stores have 'em, though?

Anyway, online works great too. :) The eBay seller I got them from sells 'em by the pair, and is pretty fast. If you're ever home alone for 2 or three days, it's perfectly safe to order them. Mine arrived in a non-descript silver plastic bag - though that might be because they were sent through airmail.

I think the last time I was in Homebase all I used was the vending machine.
Will consider that eBay one though :P
