Okay so, first off are these Australian military surplus gloves! They came with little cotton inner gloves which are separate from the actual gloves. Personally I dislike these cotton gloves, but I guess some might like them. But they are totally optional so it's not the end of the world. The actual rubber gloves are rubber on the inner and outer sides with no lining.
They were very dusty when they arrived and took a lot of cleaning. The label says they were treated in 1987 and last tested in 1990 so I guess they've picked up about 30 years worth of dust, which was definitely evident when cleaning them and, to be honest, kinda gross. I'd advise wearing a pair of gloves when you wash your pair of gloves.
However, you can see that they are super shiny when clean and polished up with latex polish! (And these photos were taken a few days after polishing, too - they were even shinier before!)
Overall, the rubber feels kind of dried out and stiff (Which of course isn't surprising given their age) However, after using latex polish / care products they regained some smoothness but are still fairly stiff. I do plan on keeping these in my collection for photoshoots (Because shiny!) so I will report back later on whether they become more flexible with regular care and use because that is definitely possible. But we'll have to wait and see I guess.
Would I buy them again? For the price I paid, probably not as they were fairly expensive. It's cool to have some gloves with some history behind them and after polishing them they are super shiny which is great for some photoshoots that I have planned with them, but the rubber is a little stiff for my liking, and although great for photoshoots due to their shine, I don't think they will serve any other purpose. (But we'll see! I don't completely dislike them, so they may grow on me!)
And a little side note - f you want to support my glovely adventures, please do visit my patreon as it will really help me out - While I do sometimes forget to link them here, I upload one photoset or video with rubber / latex gloves to my patreon every week, and more subscribers means more gloves to wear!
The link to my video review for these particular gloves can be found here and a set of images will be coming soon too;
