Wearing gloves in public coronavirus edition?

Post by alek200 »

Hello :)

In my country there has been a mass hysteria and many people wear gloves and masks and it's a paradise to me :) I was in a market and many 40% of the customers was with gloves. This was the first time in my life that i was with latex gloves in public. It was perfect.

Haven’t been able to take pictures haven’t even thought about it honestly. But I have been wearing gloves out in public for weeks now since this has gotten so bad. It has become part of my routine now to wear gloves when out in public even out to dinner when that was able to happen. Now all restaurants have shut down for a while. I have even been able to wear them at home without much comments always clean ones of course. If i leave the house now I have them on and don’t care who sees and so do many other now. Very thankful I can wear them right now to protect my self. Parents are even doing the same thing now can’t believe it! Glad they are though.

Until this is all cleared up and even after I think a lot more people will continue with it for a while.

I haven't seen many but a few - a fair few older men and women in blue or white latex gloves, caught a glimpse of an older woman with yellow household gloves on her car dashboard and a cute 20something girl in high viz vest and yellow household gloves cleaning trolleys in Sainsbury's car park..

I also saw a fairly good looking woman wearing black leather gloves, contrasting with her summer-ish wear but she looked really good with em on.

Maybe a new fashion of frequently wearing gloves in public beyond just winter may kick off as a result...

Ya know I think there maybe a more permanent thing with gloves and masks now. This whole thing has changed the world permanently. I am wear gloves every day when I leave the house. I keep a few pairs with me and change them when soiled. I see a lot of people wearing them now and I think it will stay that way for a while even when the virus goes away. I know I’m going to be doing it more often. After what I have seen people do then touch a public gas handle or shopping cart I won’t touch them bare handed again.

It use to take a lot for some of us I’m sure to wear the gloves in public before all of this happen. And now it seems most people won’t even give it a second though anymore. It’s almost become a norm.

I don't now how things are around other parts of Europe. But around my area every shop employee/cashier is wearing gloves and masks nowadays. My country actually made it mandatory for the shops/pharmacies/post offices to provide safety equipment (gloves/masks) for their workers. Also every shop has to have hand sanitizer or some other disinfection close to the shop entrance (there is even one shop that had disposable PE gloves for customers).
When it comes to the people around the streets, almost everyone is wearing a mask, while gloves aren't that much frequent (but from what I've seen in a big shopping centre - the glove demand seemed really high, considering that there were only couple boxes left on the shelves)

I’ve gone to the supermarket twice in the last few weeks here in Florida and more than half of the customers and all the employees are wearing gloves. Too bad 95% are nitrile/vinyl and loose fitting. But now there is a big shortage of gloves here and worldwide (the whole country of Malaysia is quarantined and they are leading producer) so they are telling us to leave the gloves for the medical professionals and it is better to wash and reuse gloves. I hope now household gloves will get more popularity.

Since household gloves are reusable and just have to be washed, they may do. Plus, we may see them (gloves in general) return as a fashion accessory outside of winter, think about that!
