Help with identifying some gloves

Post by Phee Jameson »

Ah, so, first off - I literally have no photos to go on so I'm aware this is going to be a challenging task. :rolleyes: But I will do my best to describe them in the hope that I can find them!

I was in the hairdressers the other day and one lady was using a pair of gloves that seemed quite interesting and I'd love to do a glove review of them as they're a little bit 'different' from a standard pair that I review. I've never seen them before in the UK so I don't know if they're just a New Zealand thing. If they are, guess I need to act fast to buy a pair as I'm leaving the country soon!

So onto a brief description;

They seemed nice and lightweight but with a lovely and smooth black rubber, if I had to guess I would say they were somewhere in-between the thickness of a regular household glove and a disposable latex glove. It came out of a carton box, but they seemed to be re-usable as there were a little collection of them drying over the sink and the other hairdressers picked them up and re-used them between multiple clients, and they also seemed to be unlined as they had more smooth rubber on the inside. Nice and tight fitting too, with a rolled cuff.

I'm pretty sure that I saw some writing on the wrist of one of the gloves. I can't be certain as to what it said as it was around a week ago and I wasn't paying too much attention at the time thinking that they would be easy to find on google if I searched 'hairdressing gloves'. :rolleyes: I now wish I had tried to look at the writing as I can't seem to find them anywhere. If I google hairdressing gloves for sale in New Zealand, I can only find disposable latex and nitrile varieties.

Anyway, here's to hoping that somebody on here may be able to point me in the right direction! (Or at least a similar brand!)

These are the only thing I could think of. They are not black in color. Though, I bet in the right light they could appear so. They also have writing on the wrist.

Sounds to me like Black Pearl gloves. Or perhaps Black Satin.

Thanks guys! Think they look most like the black pearl or Matador gloves. I'm 99% sure they were definitely a very dark black (though my memory could be deceiving me) so I'm guessing the black pearl are more likely. However, no harm in trying out both I guess :D

Another possibility - Sibel "Clean-All" ? These are totally smooth inside but have a slight roughend grip outside. Lovely gloves, like a strong surgical glove in weight, only drawback for me is they're ambidextrous - they don't come in left-right hand pairs, just two identical gloves that consequently don't fit quite as well as they otherwise might.
