How'd you all enjoy our bi-annual forum downtime?
As some of you may have noticed, we'd gone dark for a couple of days. It turned out we had exceed our monthly traffic limit three days before the end of the month, resulting in a suspension until the beginning of the next billing cycle. Which is today, obviously. We could've bought extra data, but that's very expensive, so we decided to just sit it out.
With our current donation funds, we also cannot afford to upgrade to a bigger web hosting plan any time soon. We'd run out of money in less than two years if we did that. So, we'll have to find a solution for the growing traffic usage.
Now, normally, we only use up around 75% of our monthly allowance, but there was a peak this month. We've concluded that this must have been due to the rise in people uploading their photos as attachments, rather than hosting them off site on sites like Imagebam. For that reason, in order to avoid having to upgrade to a bigger plan too soon, we will no longer allow attachments to posts.
In fact, I've turned off the ability to upload attachments for most users.
The only attachments that are still allowed are ones that come with a donation. PM me if you're interested in that option.
And now, back to gloving!
Welcome back! - again

how to change e-mail address
In case anyone of the few dozen people getting an e-mail didn't appreciate getting it in that inbox, change your address like this:

How much extra is needed to fix the problem to ensure this doesn't happen again the future?

The limit we hit was 400 GB. The next step up is 800 GB. But normally, we only use between 290-330.

I think it might be a good idea to suggest to those members who wish to add attachments/photos to their posts that a hosting site like Imagebam is well worth using ...
It's completely free, almost limitless in size (Well, at least for the average person) and provides you with forum links you can directly copy/paste into your posts ...
In NO way do we want to discourage members from posting their own photos ...

Flickr is a better option for those who wish to add a passport to their collection, as was demonstrated late last year already on the forum.
