ImageBam submission thumbnails 404'd?

Post by Carrie Karkus »

I went to share some of my art that I uploaded to ImageBam with someone off-site and couldn't help but notice that every thumbnail for each submission has 404'd. All I get is a "Error -- Thumbnail not found..." and thus all my art in my forum posts simply say Image with a hyperlink where the thumbnail should be displayed.

Did ImageBam suffer some sort of crash or outage recently? I'm not too disappointed that I have to go through my posts and update them with new image links, but I'm just kinda confused on what's happened.

If anyone knows anything, I'd love to hear it. :hmm:

I have noticed that some of my old uploads have randomly disappeared, but never all of them. For example, this batch from nearly ten years ago: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=42&p=43

Those vanished a long time ago, though. It's not something recent. I'm afraid it's just that Imagebam is not exactly perfect. Unfortunately, it's the best (or at least the easiest) imagehost I know of.

But if it's indeed getting worse, and more pictures are starting to disappear, perhaps we need to start putting a bit more effort into looking for an alternative.

I think Imagebam is one of the sites that offered paid membership to generate income, so uploads from non-paying members will eventually expire. In practice it seems to me that most image hosting sites will deactivate a link after a year passes without the photo being clicked. I've noticed some very old imagebam and imagevenue scans are still active despite being free accounts.

I'm would guess thumbnails still give a hit postponing expiry, but R0mmie's link is half alive/half dead, so that doesn't make much sense either

So it seems this is an issue that corrected itself. The thumbnails in my forum posts and on ImageBam are appearing again normally. I'm guessing this was an issue with my network, if not something temporary on the site's behalf.

Basically forum thumbnails for my ImageBam pics were blank, and the thumbnails/images themselves on ImgBam displayed a 404 placeholder image. Either way, I'm glad I don't need to find another host for my porn drawings. :P

I am guessing sub-optimal server distribution and internal forwarding, so on their end yes.
