Identify versions of Casabella waterblock gloves?

Got gloves to trade? Looking for a specific pair? Know a good website that sells 'em? This is the place

Identify versions of Casabella waterblock gloves?

Post by gloveloverus »

It seems that Casabella has released a new version of their waterblock gloves! Supposedly proper sizing as well as material is very similar to what it used to, when gloves were made in Europe!

Question is, how the heck do I know which version I'm buying? I'm in Canada so no Casabella online store I can buy direct. I have seen some black Casabella's too on eBay but they seem to have disappeared :'(

Much appreciate your help.

Hi, it's very easy to distinguish the original from the new version:
- the original version is slightly longer, but that's difficult to assess if you don't have both the new and original version to compare.
- at the location where the cuff expands, meant to fold back to block water from moistening your sleeves, the original version has ONE slightly thicker rim. On the new version, there are two rims.

My wife's black Casabellas, new version (the original ones, made in Greece, have never been produced in black or blue):

Thanks for the pictures, for the one rim version, are you referring to their original Waterstop gloves? I have a few pairs of the Waterstop in pink, then they changed supplier to Taiwan and they were the 2 rims, the ones I got they are too small and the rubber is not as smooth as the old Waterstop gloves :( Now on Casabella website, they seem to have updated the "Waterblock" gloves from Taiwan to feel just like the old Waterstop gloves, I just wanted to find out how to identify these new Taiwan version if I could?

Yes, I might need to be more precise:
- original version: one rim, chlorinated smooth rubber
- new version, early batches: two rims, much less chlorinated, smaller fit than original ones, lots and lots of complaints on social media
- new version current batches: two rims, almost same chlorination and thus smoothness as the original ones, yet slightly thicker rubber still. Size is again correct.

The original ones were definitely the smoothest, flexible and silkiest, I'm very happy my wife still has a lot of those in red, yellow and green. Of the new version we also have the blue ones. Very nice!

The yellow Casabellas, are they from Spencer's? I think they were available in UK only :(
