In general, yes. VLC has the most complete codec pack out there so if you have it installed and are being prompted to add another codec to play a file then chances are it's bogus. Streaming DivX is the exception, you do actually require a different codec for that one.

Everyone's a freak in one way or another - it's how much and how you choose to express it that counts. As long as it harms no-one (unless that's their preference, of course) then who are we to judge?

<3 VLC, but the traffic cone has always been somewhat of a mystery to me.
