Sextortion scam warning [linkedin pre-2011 password?]
With a lot of us visiting sites that we would not want to be made public i would just like to highlight a scam a received yesterday were i got an email alleging that malware was installed on my computer that gave the hacker access to mirror my screen and use of my webcam, the alarming thing about this was that my password was stated in the email. I'm 99% sure this is bullshit as i use a VPM and my webcam is always covered and also the password is one i havent used for 10 years but i though i would just highlight this incase anyone gets a similar email.

Re: Sextortion scam warning
I got such an e-mail sometime last year, recognized the password: my pre-2011 LinkedIn password, when they had a large data breach which was widely covered in the media.
The bluf is the real threat.

I also had the same. You need to check if your e-mail and password have leaked, there have been such data leaks. I deleted that e-mail because I received messages like you.

There's a Chrome browser extension which will tell you if your password has ever been leaked in a data breach:

So, it checks for the website/domain, but cannot read your login/pass?

I'm not sure how it works. I've had it for a while, and it was recommended by a reliable source. But I don't remember which one.
